Thinking about hiring a scrubber dryer for your commercial property? Here are some things you should consider beforehand.
Mains or Battery Powered?
A mains powered scrubber dryer is great if you don’t have to worry about being too mobile, as you’re going to need to be plugged in at all times. Cheaper to run than a battery powered machine, a mains scrubber dryer never runs out of power because it’s plugged in which makes it the ideal choice for when you need to clean for continuous and lengthy periods of time.
A battery powered scrubber dryer is the best option if you need to maneovre around a lot or have to clean multiple floors because there is no cable getting in your way. You do have to charge battery powered machines, often leaving them uninterrupted for several hours at a time. So you will have some downtime compared to a mains powered scrubber that is ready to use at all times. You also need to take into consideration the length of the battery time to ensure you can complete your job within one charge.
Disc or Cylindrical?
Disc scrubber dryers are generally the most popular types of machines because they’re the most versatile. This is because you can change the cleaning pad that disc scrubbers have to suit different floor types. If you have smooth floors or a range of different floor types to clean this is your best bet.
Cylindrical scrubber dryers have two rotating brushes that clean the floor. They are designed for rougher surfaces and for tackling ingrained dirt and soiling. They have very high contact pressure with the floor so you would only use it on a floor that is heavily soiled and is not smooth. The running costs of cylindrical scrubber dryers are higher than disc scrubbers because the brushes tend to wear out easily and often need to be replaced.
Walk or Ride?
There used to be a huge difference in price between walk-behind and ride-on scrubber dryers however, with the new range of affordable, and smaller, ride-ons available on the market, that gap has significantly reduced. With that being said, if you wanted to buy the machines outright you could buy two walk-behind machines for the price of one ride-on. Thank goodness for the hire option ay?
Ride-on machines are suitable for extremely large areas of over 3000m² but for anything less than that a walk-behind would be suitable. Both types of machine have an average run time of 4 hours.
Extras?
The more add-ons and accessories you have, the more it drives up the cost. So you need to carefully assess whether or not you actually need that extra traction, fancy nozzles or chemical dosing system. If it’s not necessary for the job you’re going to be doing, you don’t need it.
